When is Goodwood Revival 2026?
Goodwood Revival 2026 takes place from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex. It is a three-day historic motorsport festival that recreates the atmosphere of motor racing between 1948 and 1966, with period vehicles, vintage fashion, historic racing and immersive entertainment, welcoming around 150,000 visitors each year.

Why was the Goodwood Revival created?
Between 1948 and 1966 the Goodwood Motor Circuit hosted contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One. The Goodwood Revival began in 1998, launched by Charles Gordon-Lennox, then the Earl of March, exactly 50 years after the circuit originally opened. It was created as a celebration of motorsport’s golden era, and to breathe new life into a track that had fallen silent after competitive racing ended at Goodwood in 1966 on safety grounds.
Only cars built between 1948 and 1966 may race on the circuit, honouring the original lifespan of the track. Many have been driven by some of motoring’s biggest names, including Damon Hill and Sir Stirling Moss. Famous faces such as musician Chris Rea and actor Rowan Atkinson have taken to the track too.
What can spectators expect from the Goodwood Revival?
You can expect to be carried straight back to the golden age of motorsport. The entire circuit, pit lane and surrounding areas are restored to their original 1948 to 1966 layout. The drivers wear authentic period racing attire from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, and spectators are warmly encouraged to dress in vintage clothing from those decades too.
Everything adds to the illusion. Food stalls sell period fare, vintage clothing stalls line the streets, and even the programme is designed to look as though it was printed at the time. Picture paddock mechanics in white overalls, spectators in tweed jackets, military dress, trilby hats, pencil skirts and headscarves, all set against the unmistakable scent of Castrol R drifting through the air, and you really do feel as though the clock has been wound back.
What to wear to the Goodwood Revival
The dress code is one of the most loved parts of the weekend. Arriving in period attire is not showing off; it is simply a mark of respect for the occasion and the post-war era it celebrates. Dressing up transforms the experience, and there is genuine admiration for effort among the Revival crowd.
It is not compulsory, but the vast majority of visitors dress in period style, and many go to great lengths to get the look right. If you have a central Paddock pass, a jacket and tie is required for gentlemen and a dress or suit for ladies.
For the gentlemen: think 1940s to 1960s tailoring. Tweed three-piece suits, military and RAF uniforms, flat caps, trilbies, brogues and braces all work beautifully. For a 1950s flavour, rockabilly or Teddy Boy styling fits the era, while a sharp, slim 1960s mod suit suits the later years of the circuit’s history.
For the ladies: tea dresses, swing dresses, pencil skirts, headscarves, gloves and victory rolls capture the 1940s and 1950s. For the 1960s, a shift dress, a beehive and bold accessories look the part.
Where to find your outfit: specialist vintage shops and period costume hire are your easiest options. On the day, the Revival’s own Style Village and high-street stalls are full of authentic clothing and accessories if you want to add a finishing touch.

The Revival Car Show is the world’s largest classic car park, a vibrant, vintage-themed display area over the road from the main circuit and often considered one of the highlights of the weekend.
Eligibility is strictly limited to vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1966. Parking is free, but you must reserve your space in advance via the Goodwood Revival Car Show page, as allocations sell out long before the event.
