Looking for Jaguar Mark 2 wedding car hire in Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire or London? At Coopers of Goodwood, our silver 1966 Jaguar Mark 2 pairs timeless British style with a professional chauffeur, so all you have to do is enjoy the moment. Whether you are planning a country house wedding at Addington Palace, a Church ceremony or a city celebration at Chelsea Old Town Hall, this iconic classic makes an arrival your guests will remember. It is just as at home at corporate events, Goodwood weekends and milestone celebrations.
Few British classic cars are as instantly recognisable as the Jaguar Mark 2, also written Mark II or Mk2. The name alone brings to mind elegance, power and a certain 1960s glamour, and for many enthusiasts the Mark 2 is Jaguar at its very best. Our silver Mark 2 has quickly become one of our most requested wedding cars, and it is easy to see why.
Finished in silver with gleaming chrome wheels and kept in immaculate condition, it is a favourite with couples across Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and London. If you are searching for a classic wedding car, with a chauffeur who looks after every detail, read on.
Built in Coventry between 1959 and 1967, the Mark 2 is a true icon of British motoring. Its sweeping lines, distinctive chrome grille and gleaming brightwork look just as right outside a village church or a country house as they do outside a register office in town, such as Chichester Register office.
Our Mark 2 is finished in a soft silver, which makes a beautiful backdrop for a white or ivory gown. The shade is calm and sophisticated, and it sits happily alongside almost any colour scheme, from blush and sage to bold seasonal florals.
Inside, you sink into deep leather seats, with polished walnut across the dashboard and door trims. For the Mark 2, Jaguar moved the speedometer and rev counter directly in front of the driver and lined the centre of the dash with classic toggle switches. It feels less like a car and more like a small drawing room on wheels.

Slim pillars and a large wrap-around rear window fill the car with natural light and give your photographer plenty of angles. Dressed with traditional white ribbons across the chrome grille, it is one of the most photogenic wedding cars you can hire.

The rear seat carries the bride and up to two companions, with one more in the front beside your chauffeur. It feels more intimate than a large limousine, and because the Mark 2 is a closed saloon, your hair, dress and veil stay perfect whatever the British weather has planned.
Part of the Mark 2’s charm is that almost everyone recognises it, and your guests will love it.
The Mark 2 is perhaps best known as the car of Inspector Morse, played by John Thaw. The television car was a 1960 2.4-litre Mark 2 in Regency Red with a black vinyl roof, registration 248 RPA. In Colin Dexter’s original novels Morse drove a Lancia, but on screen he was given a classic British car instead, and the Jaguar became almost as famous as the detective himself. It still appears near the top of polls of Britain’s favourite TV cars.
The Mark 2 was a genuine sports saloon and a front runner in British saloon car racing in the early 1960s. Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori and Mike Parkes all raced Mark 2s, many of them prepared by Jaguar specialist John Coombs. You can still watch Mark 2s racing wheel to wheel at the Goodwood Revival, just down the road from us.
In the early 1960s, most British police forces drove family saloons such as the Ford Zephyr and Wolseley 6/90. A well-driven 3.8-litre Mark 2 could leave them standing, and with room for five and a generous boot, it soon earned a reputation as the getaway car of choice for the bank robbers of the day. Before long, police forces were buying Mark 2s of their own to keep up.
We think it is rather fitting that the Mark 2 is still the perfect getaway car today, whisking newlyweds away from their ceremony in style, at a far more dignified pace so you can sit back and enjoy the journey.
The Mark 2 was built to be driven. Jaguar’s celebrated twin-cam XK straight-six engine came in 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8-litre versions, and the flagship 3.8 produced 220 bhp, reaching 60 mph in around 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph. It was also one of the first saloon cars with disc brakes on all four wheels as standard.
Our car was built in 1966 and has the flagship 3.8-litre engine. Its interior is original, and it is immaculate inside and out. You will find more photos and details on our Jaguar Mark II page
